Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving a website’s ranking in search results. This can be achieved by adding unique content that includes good quality keywords that users commonly enter in a search engine when searching for a website. Website architecture, coding, naming and navigation conventions also play an important role when optimizing a website in order to improve its placement in search results. Results found through Search Engine Optimization are often called as organic, natural, or algorithmic search results.
We analyse your website to see what keywords you already target and to check what onsite work needs to be done on the site. Sometimes if your Web Designer has done a very good job then the onsite work can be minimised. We will also look at the age of your site, where it is hosted and what technology is used to run the site. All these factors can affect the SEO in either a positive or negative way and therefore we must resolve any of these problems first.
If you have your site listed in the Search Engines already we will look how well you are performing already. Our primary focus is Google as this typically provides 80%+ of the Search Engine traffic but we also look at MSN, Yahoo and other lesser Search Engines.
Once we have defined what keywords your website is currently trying to be ranked for we look at your competitors to see how much SEO they have done onsite and to help build up our list of keywords to focus on.
When we have defined the initial keyword set we use Google, Overture and Wordtracker to help expand what keywords to focus on. These tools are also used to help define the best keyword to focus on. We find that many companies have a specific idea on what keywords to focus on, but this can sometimes be different to what the typical user is searching for, and therefore these tools help us recommend new keywords to target.
When we have research all the keywords for you we will recommend several to target and let you chose exactly what to target. You can have as many or as few keywords as you like but this directly affects the amount of time it takes for us to optimise for the keywords. It will require a lot less time/money to optimise for 10 keywords than for 1000.
No SEO company can guarantee a top 10 placing unless it is for a keyword that has no competition, as no SEO company knows how the Search Engine Algorithms exactly work. We will however do our best to give you an idea of how long it will take you to achieve your required results. Typically for uncompetitive keywords we say less than 3 months before you will get decent rankings, 4+ months for competitive keywords and 12+ months for extremely competitive keywords. The timeframes are only estimates, we have found websites will rank well for competitive keywords within 2 months; it all just depends on when Google updates the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) and how much Optimization has taken place by that time.
Meta Content is not the major influence on rankings with the Search Engine Results Pages but they still provide useful information for the Search Engines so we ensure your Meta Tags are all in place and optimised.
Many websites have errors on them; this can vary from dead links to mistakes in the robots.txt. Therefore we ensure all Search Engine Spiders can crawl your site properly without encountering any errors.
The robots.txt is a text file that provides instructions to the Search Engine Spiders. Sometimes you will not want a Search Engine viewing a page, such as client logins etc but most of the time we allow the Search Engine Spider to crawl the site freely.
We typically create an HTML sitemap and an XML sitemap. This is a page that links to all your other pages and allows a Search Engine Spider to crawl your entire site easily.
We will typically rename a lot of your links to more SEO friendly links and we go through your site to ensure both the Search Engine Spider and User can browse the site with no problems.
Sitemaps are an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling. In its simplest form, a sitemap is an XML file that lists URLs for a site along with additional metadata about each URL (when it was last updated, how often it usually changes, and how important it is, relative to other URLs in the site) so that search engines can more intelligently crawl the site.
Using Social Media to Improve Your Business! There are some amazing benefits to using social media, and below is just a summary of those benefits and how they can impact your business.
One of the largest hurdles for small businesses is brand recognition. Consumers are more often drawn towards a familiar product than they are a new one. Even if the packaging is eye-catching, the price right and the ingredients the same, most consumers will buy the tried and true brand they are used to already.
Online marketing is essential for good business, even for offline businesses. A social media page allows you to advertise, market, research and even generate customers for minimal to no cost. This is a HUGE benefit for small businesses that have small marketing budgets
Many business owners fail to interact with their fans and followers, and this is a HUGE mistake. Do not post something and then ignore the attention it receives, get involved. Respond to comments, acknowledge favorites and pay attention to who is sharing your content so you can thank them and possibly share something of theirs to your page.
